Heavy rain and severe gales for central and northern New Zealand
Cyclone DOVI is moving across the central North Island this morning and afternoon, then away to the southeast. Heavy rain affecting areas from Canterbury to the central North Island is expected to ease this afternoon as DOVI moves away. Gale to severe gale winds associated with DOVI are affecting the upper South Island and many parts of the North Island, and these winds should ease towards this evening.
This is a significant weather event, with widespread adverse conditions likely.Warnings and Watches for heavy rain and severe gales are in force for many places.
Lastly, significant and hazardous waves with the potential of hazardous cross and rip currents are expected in association with Cyclone DOVI. The largest waves are expected on the west coast of the North Island until this afternoon.

Low bringing a period of heavy rain to North Island areas
A low over the north Tasman Sea is expected to move across the North Island during Wednesday. The low is expected to bring a period of heavy rain to several regions of the North Island. However, there is some uncertainty in the track of the low and the expected rainfall accumulations in several areas.
People are advised to keep up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings as the low approaches New Zealand.

Heavy rain and gale force winds for the upper North Island
A subtropical low moves southwards onto the north of the North Island on Monday,then moves slowly eastwards during Tuesday. The low pressure system is expected to bring rain and strong winds to the North Island.
Warnings and Watches are in place from Northland to northern Gisborne.
People are advised to stay up to date with the latest Warnings and Watches.

Rain and strong winds for many places
A front is forecast to move east across New Zealand today, with a low deepening near East Cape this evening before moving away to the southeast. The front is expected to bring periods of heavy rain to many places and Heavy Rain Watches and Warning are in force.
Additionally, strong to gale northeast flow preceding this front is expected to affects parts of the upper North Island while strong to gale force winds are expected around the deepening low near East Cape and Wind Watches related to these are also in force.
People are advised to stay up to date with the latest forecasts in case further areas are added, or Watches are upgraded to Warnings.
